More than £13k worth of donations were given to several charities following the “best ever” Welwyn Festival.
Organisers held a cheque presentation event last week, where more than 60 people watched charity representatives get awarded the money raised last month.
The Mixed Group, Waste Not Want Not, and Herts Air Ambulance were all given £1,500, and The Welwyn Fernery, Digswell Community Gardening Project and St Mary’s Church Preservation all scooped £1k.
Welwyn Festival chair Catherine Farrell said: “The festival was the best ever – bringing together the local community at many different events throughout.
“The bonus of raising over £13k for local causes is amazing and could not be achieved without tremendous efforts by the many volunteers who help bring it all together.”
She added that two further donations to local charities will be made in August.
