A young woman suffered permanent injury when her leg was crushed in an escalator because of blundering workmen in Welwyn Garden City.
St Albans Crown Court heard last week how Alexandra Storey was trapped in the “up” escalator at the Howard Centre after an astonishing mix-up between two pairs of men working alongside each other.
Otis Ltd and Complete Escalator Services have each pleaded guilty to a health and safety offence.
