A Potters Bar mum is recovering in Italy after she was pulled lifeless from the Mediterranean and resuscitated by medics who happened to be nearby.

The Welwyn Hatfield Times has reached out to 43-year-old photographer Marissa Jacobs, who is currently recovering in hospital after passing out in the water.

On Friday, August 3 she was pulled from the sea by her heroic 12-year-old son Luca, before undergoing 15 minutes of resuscitation from medics.

Marissa is said to have had no pulse and it was deemed a miracle that she was brought back to life.

She will seek further check-ups when she returns to the UK to understand how she blacked out.

“I didn’t struggle in the water,” Marissa said.

“I blacked out in the water and then obviously drowned, but the water was flat and lovely and I’m a strong swimmer.”

Thankfully, the experience has not put her off enjoying the sea.

“I love the sea,” she said.

“We were jumping off the high rocks into deep water just that morning.

“The sea is so beautiful!”
