Police search for man with gun at Hatfield and Potters Bar train stations

Police carried out searches at Hatfield and Potters Bar train stations after a report that a passenger had a gun.
A Herts Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called shortly before 5pm on Sunday, October 14 following an incident at Hatfield train station.
“It was reported that a man was seen in possession of what was believed to have been a firearm, before boarding a train.
“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from British Transport Police, to carry out a thorough search of the train and surrounding area but neither the man nor the weapon were located.”
Police then received information that the man may have travelled to Potters Bar.
Officers again attended and carried out a thorough search but neither the man nor weapon were found.
Officers left the scene and follow up enquiries are being carried out.
There are no reports of any injuries or anyone having been threatened at this time.
A British Transport Police spokesman added; “Shortly before 5.00pm British Transport Police were called to Hatfield station following reports of a person with a firearm.
“Officers attended the scene, alongside colleagues from Hertfordshire Police, and carried out a thorough search of the station however the person was not located.
“The incident is on going and is not currently being treated as terror related.”
