A man was taken to hospital after his ear was bitten near a Welwyn Garden City pub during the England v Colombia game.

Police received a call at 10.57pm last night (Tuesday, July 3) to reports of an assault by The View Bar and Kitchen (formerly the Fairway Tavern).

Following a fight in the car park, a 28-year-old man was assaulted by another male.

A police spokeswoman said: “The victim, who had been in The View prior, was punched and bitten on his ear and had to attend an urgent care centre as his ear was bleeding.

“Officers are investigating and anyone who saw the incident, or has any other information, should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/13919/18.”
