A MAN suffered what paramedics called suspected “life-changing” injuries in a five-vehicle pile-up last night (Monday).
The emergency services were called to the A602 around 200 yards from Heath Mount School, Watton-at-Stone, just after 9.45pm after an accident involving a blue MPV Mercedes, a silver VW Golf, a white Volvo articulated lorry, a red Vauxhall Corsa and a blue VW Scirocco.
A man in his 40s was unable to feel his legs and was stabilised by paramedics with a neck brace before being cut from his car by fire crews.
He was taken to Lister Hospital.
No-one else was injured.
Police closed the A602 Ware Road from the junction with the A119 as well as Anchor Lane and Whempstead Road while the vehicles were recovered.
