THE driver of a car transporter which overturned on the M25 last night was killed in the crash, police have confirmed.

The accident caused the motorway near Potters Bar to be shut overnight and much of today (Friday), as police carried out investigations and cleared up at the scene.

A Met Police spokesman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times no further details of the victim were yet known, and a post-mortem examination was awaited.

He added the M25 was subject to a structured re-opening from 1pm, and was now fully open.

The Highways Agency, however, is still reporting heavy congestion in the area around South Mimms and Potters Bar. Normal traffic conditions are expected from 7.15pm.
