A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after his car crashed into a lorry in WGC.

The accident happened at 11.20am on Saturday, on the southbound carriageway of the B197, close to the junction of Brockswood Lane, when a Citroen C4 hit a stationary lorry.

The driver of the Citroen, a 37-year-old man, was taken to the QE2 Hospital with serious head injuries.

Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “A man who we believe to be in his 30s sustained a serious head injury. “Paramedics worked extremely hard to treat, stabilise and immobilise him in the car before he was taken to an awaiting trauma team at the QE2 Hospital in WGC.”

A police spokeswoman said the man was still in hospital today (Monday) but his condition was “improving”.
