Police, fire and ambulance services were called at around 8am this morning (Friday, February 16) to reports of the collision on Essendon Hill.

Herts Fire and Rescue said cutting equipment was used to free one person who was trapped.

A blue Ford Focus and a white Ford Transit van were involved, and a man in his 60s was taken to hospital as a precaution, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

The road was closed to allow the Focus to be recovered and the carriageway was clear by 11.15am.
