Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Potters Bar

Police are appealing for witnesses after a group of teenagers smashed a bottle over a man's head before robbing him in Potters Bar.

Officers are investigating the attack in Wyllyotts Place, which police said involved the group throwing sweets at the victim before hitting him over the head with a wine bottle.

He then fell to the ground, and the offenders then kicked him before stealing his laptop bag and some cash.

The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered a cut to his head and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Inspector Graeme Walsingham, from the Local Crime Unit, said: “We want to reassure the public that this type of incident is unusual, but we would urge anyone who saw anything in the area at the time stated to come forward and speak to us, as you may hold vital evidence.”

The first suspect is believed to be of Mediterranean descent, around 5ft 10in tall and of muscular build. He was wearing a dark blue and red beanie hat.

The second suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build with dark brown curly hair.

The third suspect is described as white, around 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with dark blonde hair. All the suspects are believed to be aged between 16 and 19.

Police asked anyone with information to call 101.
