Man dies outside Welwyn garden City restaurant

A MAN collapsed and died in front of stunned diners at a busy restaurant. Customers at the popular pizza chain Ask, in Howardsgate, WGC, alerted staff after the man, who lived locally, fell heavily against a window as he was walking past, at around 9.15pm

A MAN collapsed and died in front of stunned diners at a busy restaurant.

Customers at the popular pizza chain Ask, in Howardsgate, WGC, alerted staff after the man, who lived locally, fell heavily against a window as he was walking past, at around 9.15pm on Sunday.

An ambulance was called as Ask's assistant manager Amanda Muir and head chef Kemal Handle, both trained first aiders, tried speaking to the man, and covered him in tablecloths to keep him warm.

Ambulance crews also tried to revive him on arrival at the scene, but he did not regain consciousness.

He was then taken to the QE2 Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
