A man was hit by a train near Potters Bar


A man died yesterday evening after being struck by a train near Potters Bar.

A British Transport Police statement on its website said: “At 6.48pm yesterday, officers were called to New Barnet station following reports a person was struck by a train.

“Paramedics attended alongside police however a 44-year-old man was pronounced dead.

“His family have been told.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The collision two stops from Potters Bar caused severe delays along the Great Northern route.
