A man has died after a collision on the A414 near Hatfield.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a fatal collision on the A414 at around 5.20am today.

A silver Ford Focus had been travelling towards Hatfield when it collided with the central reservation just north of the Hatfield House entrance.

The driver, a man in his 30s, got out of his car and a short time later a silver Mercedes Sprinter van collided with him.

The man sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the van was not injured.

PC Jackie Lister from the Road Crash Investigation Team said: “I would appeal to anyone who was using this route around the time of the collision to please contact me if they saw anything.

“I am particularly keen to hear from two drivers who are believed to have taken action to avoid the Ford Focus before the second collision and I would be keen to hear from these people.”

Anyone with any information about what happened is asked to contact PC Lister via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101.
