Man critical after attack

A MAN is fighting for life after he was attacked outside a town centre pub. Hatfield man Bavish Patel was knocked unconscious near the Town Inn in the town and was taken by ambulance to the QE2 Hospital. Friend and darts teammate Richard Day

A MAN is fighting for life after he was attacked outside a town centre pub.

Hatfield man Bavish Patel was knocked unconscious near the Town Inn in the town and was taken by ambulance to the QE2 Hospital.

Friend and darts teammate Richard Day said: "He hit the ground head first and hasn't woken up yet.

"He wouldn't hurt a fly."

The 33-year-old remains in a stable but critical condition in intensive care.

Ten police officers were sent to the scene just before 2.30am on Saturday and the surrounding area was cordoned off.

* Dejan Tomsic, 29, of St Lukes Court, Hatfield, has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

He was due to appear before Central Herts Magistrates' Court in St Albans on Tuesday.
