A MAN has appeared in court following an incident in a quite street when armed police were called.

James Chittock, 30, of Boundary Lane, WGC, appeared yesterday (Monday) at Central Herts Magistrates' Court at St Albans charged with possessing a firearm with the intent to endanger life and possessing a shortened firearm.

He was remanded in custody.

As reported on www.whtimes24.co.uk police were called after reports of gunshots being fired in WGC's Boundary Lane area.

The incident happened late on Thursday night.

Twenty officers from many specialised units, including firearms, were called to the scene at around 11.35pm.

An ambulance was also in attendance.

Police guarded the area until the next morning.
