A man who was arrested in Welwyn Garden City for brandishing a machete and a firearm has now been charged.

Christopher Coleman, aged 57, of Springfields, Welwyn Garden City has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause unlawful violence, two counts of affray and possession of a bladed article.

The incident took place at around 11.30am on Monday, and Coleman was arrested around half an hour later in Daniells.

Nobody was injured.

Coleman was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Hatfield Remand Court today.
