Man assaulted in Welwyn Garden City

A MAN was punched in the face in WGC as he walked a friend home after a night out.

The assault happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a man in his 30s was walking near Morrisons supermarket on Black Fan Road with a female friend.

They were approached from behind by two men, who shouted abuse and punched the man in the face before running off towards The Ridgeway.

Police are now hunting two white men, aged between 22 and 24. One is described as between around 6ft tall with short blonde hair and a grey flannel tracksuit.

The other man was about 5ft 8in and wearing a navy blue hoody.

Pc Jamie Brady said: “This was a totally unprovoked assault on a man who was helping a friend get home safely after a night out.

“Behaviour of this kind is totally unacceptable and I would encourage anyone who thinks they might be able to identify those responsible or has information to come forward.”
