Man arrested on suspicion of kidnap and rape after woman found in Hatfield

Police have this afternoon confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and rape after concerns were raised for a woman in Hatfield.
Police were called by a member of the public following concerns about the welfare of a woman who was found on Comet Way, Hatfield, at 1.59am on Sunday.
In a statement issued by police today, a spokeswoman said: “A man in his 30s has been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident whilst inquiries remain on-going.
“We are aware there has been social media speculation about the incident and we are working with the complainant to get a better understanding of what has happened, and expect this line of inquiry will take a few more days.”
Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in Parkhouse Court, Hatfield, at around 2am on Sunday, October 23 to call Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference B2/16/4413.
