A man was arrested in Hatfield this morning with the help of a police dog.

Officers had stopped a person in Talbot Road at around 1am this morning before the person allegedly assaulted one of them and fled.

Police dog Sam was called in, and at 2am, he located a person in a front garden in Talbot Road – where they were subsequently arrested.

Sergeant Vicky Stoughton from the police dog unit said: “Our dogs are chosen specifically for their excellent sense of smell, agility and temperament.

“These attributes make them ideally suited to assist their handlers and other officers at numerous types of incidents.”
