A GYM goer suddenly collapsed and died as he worked out.

Shane Tully, 41, from Cockfosters, suffered a heart attack as he trained at Beaumont's Health Club, Potters Bar, just before 8pm on Friday.

It is believed he had asked staff for a glass of water and when they returned he had fallen to the floor.

Paramedics treated the man at the gym in the Furzefield Centre, Mutton Lane, before he was transferred to Barnet General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A spokeswoman for the health club said: "It is of course very sad. Our staff are qualified and trained at dealing with issues such as this, but it was tragic."

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
