A man has been charged in connection with an robbery at a newsagent in Welwyn Garden City.

Hundreds of pounds in cash and £300 worth of cigarettes were stolen in an armed robbery at the Hall Grove Martin’s newsagents in Welwyn Garden City on May 17.

A police spokeswoman said: “Liam Tristram, aged 28, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

“He appeared at Central West Herts Magistrates Court on Saturday, May 20, where he was remanded into custody.

“His next appearance is on June 19 at St Albans Crown Court.”
