A FIRE broke out at a service station this morning (Thursday).

Wooden pallets sized five by 12 metres in the lorry service area caught fire and were “well alight” at around 11.20.

Fire crews from WGC and St Albans, were in attendance and used a jet and chrome (a type of rake) to control the blaze, which was under control by 12.15pm.

The services and shops remained open to the public.

A spokeswoman for Herts Fire and Rescue Service said the cause was accidental.
