The anti-clockwise M25 re-opened more than three and a half hours after a collision led to a large diesel spillage between Junction 25 for Waltham Cross and 24 for Potters Bar in Hertfordshire.
Yesterday’s crash resulted in the rupture of an HGV fuel tank leaving a large amount of diesel on the carriageway.
All four lanes were closed from 3.43pm.
Drivers were advised to follow diversion routes while the vehicles were recovered and for Highways England contractors to clear up the diesel and make the carriageway safe.
The carriageway was re-opened to traffic at 7.15pm, although there were still delays in the area.
