A large crash on the M25 is causing lengthy delays after the road was closed.

The Highways Agency is warning it could be some time before the motorway reopens anticlockwise following the collision close to Junction 21a.

It has been described as a “multi-vehicle” collision, and emergency crews are at the scene.

Traffic is currently queuing back to Junction 22 toward Junction 23, for the A1(M).

A statement from the Highways Agency said: “A clearly signed diversion is in place via the exit and entry slip roads at junction 21a. Traffic wishing to travel northbound on the M1 may join the A1(M) at junction 23 and then the A14 westbound.

“Drivers planning to use this section of the M25 are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time to reach their destinations.”
