Lower Hatfield Lane has been closed due to water on the road this morning (Monday)

Part of the M25 is closed this afternoon (Tuesday) after a fatal lorry accident.

There are severe delays and traffic is queueing clockwise between Junction 23 (A1M) and Junction 25 (Enfield) due to a lorry fire.

This section of the road is currently closed.

A diversion is in operation, with traffic leaving the M25 at Junction 23 (South Mimms) onto the A1 Barnet Bypass southbound to the A406, and then to the A10 to rejoin the M25 at Junction 25 (Enfield).

There is also congestion to J22, A1081 (St Albans).

The London Ambulance Service were sent to the scene of the accident at about 12.20pm and a spokeswoman said: “Sadly, one person was dead on arrival”.

The lorry is thought to have overturned and then caught fire.

Herts Police are currently on the scene helping to deal with traffic flow.
