A lorry blaze on the M25 at South Mimms has closed two lanes of traffic.

Fire crews were called out at 10.25am to reports of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) on fire on the hard shoulder of the M25 Junction 23 slip road, anticlockwise.

Lanes one and two out of four have been closed between Junction 22 for St Albans and 23 for South Mimms anticlockwise. Traffic is at a standstill between the two junctions and slowing movement back to Junction 25, as well as on the northbound A1 approach to the interchange.

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 12.30pm and 12.45pm.

Fire engines from Potters Bar and Cheshunt attended, deploying one hose reel and two breathing apparatuses.

Police officers attended the scene to assist Highways England and the fire and rescue service.
