A LORRY driver has suffered serious injuries in a multi-vehicle pile-up on the A1(M).
His lorry was involved in a collision with a fire training vehicle and a green Mercedes estate, on the motorway near junction six, for Welwyn.
He was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage with serious leg and abdomen injuries.
Two firefighters in the training truck suffered minor injuries, and have also been taken to hospital for treatment.

The drive of the Mercedes also suffered minor injuries.
A police spokesman said the northbound carriageway is currently closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

He added the crash happened between the slip roads off and on, near the Clock - not further down the road between junctions four and five, as originally reported.
