A LORRY driver has been taken to hospital following a smash on the A1(M).

Junctions six (Welwyn) and seven (Stevenage) northbound were closed for 50 minutes today (Thursday) after two lorries collided at noon.

A police spokeswoman said: “The closure was lifted at 12.49 and all is running smoothly again.”

The driver was taken to the Lister Hospital, in Stevenage, with minor injuries.

A Saxon Road, Welwyn, resident told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “The closure caused a huge build up of traffic running through the village.”
