Light up the night at Welwyn Garden City church alternative to Halloween

If ghostly goings-on and trick or treating isn’t quite your thing, a church in Welwyn Garden City is offering a luminescent alternative this Halloween.
This Wednesday, Campus Church in Welwyn Garden City will hold a free Light Party, filling the church hall with fairy lights, balloons and all things bright and glowing.
A party for all ages, children will be invited to dress in their brightest clothes for games, party bags, a buffet and positive religious messages.
Organiser Abigail Davies pointed out that some parents don’t feel comfortable sending their children trick or treating, some people don’t believe in celebrating Halloween, and elderly people can get nervous at home in case they experience abuse from trick-or-treaters taking things too far.
“The funny thing is, we spend the rest of the year with teachers, police and parents telling children not to talk to strangers or take sweets from strangers,” said Abigail. “And then suddenly at Halloween when people are being more mischievous then ever, we say it’s fine!
“So we decided to run the party.”
Abigail and her husband Chris, the pastor of Campus Church, have been running the Light Party for three years. “We ran them in our churches back in the Midlands, and they have always been popular in the community.”
The party takes place between 5 to 7pm on October 31 at Campus Church in Welwyn Garden City.
