Caroline Lewis, an artist and a postgraduate student at the University of Hertfordshire, led pupils at the Park Educational Support Centre in Hatfield, in a pottery class.

The 11- to 14-year-olds at the Travellers Lane school were guided through how to mould clay pots.

Caroline said: "The kids loved the session. They responded so well to it that many of them went on to make other things like people out of clay rather than pots.
