A LECTURER, who had just retired before he was killed in a crash on the B1000 Hertford Road in May, suffered an “accidental death” an inquest ruled yesterday (Thursday).

Dr William Revell, 64, died after his Suzuki motorbike collided with a Toyota Hilux pickup truck on the B1000 Hertford Road between Digswell and Panshanger.

The inquest, in Hatfield, heard how Dr Revell, of Honeymead, Digswell, had struck the rear of the truck which had turned right, suffering broken ribs and damage to his heart, causing it to stop.

Concluding the Coroner told his widow Val Martin-Revell: “I cannot imagine how awful this is for you.”

He added: “He [Dr Revell] seems like someone who was great fun to be with. His loss must be dreadful.”
