AT just 22, one candidate is hoping to make an early start to politics.

Tory candidate Lauren Brown is a spring chicken compared to most of the other politicians in the borough.

Lauren, who is standing in the Haldens ward, said: "It's my first election and the day has been a really good experience.

"Not many people my age are interested in politics but it's something I'm really in to.

"I hope voters don't think I'm too young.

"The Haldens area needs a bit of work but I've been doing plenty of door knocking.

Speaking live at the count, she added: "I'm excited and nervous about tonight.

"Hopefully Gordon Brown has done the Tories a favour with the new tax increase and people will vote for us and not Labour.
