A 21-year-old has admitted having a kitchen knife in Welwyn Garden City without being able to provide a reasonable excuse.

John Tuvey appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on April 27.

He admitted carrying a kitchen knife in Howardsgate on April 6.

Tuvey, of Lumbards, Welwyn Garden City, was given a one-month community order.

He must remain at home between 9pm and 5am.

During these times he is still allowed to go into his rear garden.

Tuvey was ordered to pay victim services £85 and £85 court costs.

The knife will be destroyed.
