A NEW event makes its way to Knebworth House, Park and Gardens this weekend when the stately home hosts the 2010 Annual Lilliput Lane Collectors Fair.

Devotees of these iconic collectables will gather to view and buy from all their ranges including Enesco, Border Fine Arts, Country Artists and of course Lilliput Lane.

“It is an ideal opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early,” said a spokeswoman.

The company was set up in September 1982 and the dream was to capture the architectural heritage of Britain in authentic, detailed miniature sculptures.

Each Lilliput Lane miniature is completely hand crafted by skilled artists.

The cottages are based on real buildings and many collectors enjoy touring the country lanes of England looking for the actual houses.

Every tile, slate and flower is individually applied by hand to build up the different textures and details. The skilled painters follow a master version of the model to ensure that each item is consistent.

Martha Lytton Cobbold, manager director of Lytton Enterprises, said: “We are very pleased to host this fair for the first time in 2010.

“It is an ideal opportunity to see these beautifully crafted collectables. We are expecting this event to be very popular.”

The show is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 18th September and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday 19th September. Admission is 8 and a family day ticket (two adults and two children) is available for 28. Parking is free.

The entrance fee also includes entry the park.
