Bestselling Knebworth author appointed CBE in Queen's birthday honours

A bestselling author who lives in Knebworth is "pleased and proud" with the honour from the Queen.

In the Queen’s birthday honours, historical novelist and thriller author Ken Follett has been appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).

The CBE was given for his services for literature and charity.

Mr Follett, who lives in Knebworth and has offices in Stevenage, said: “I am very pleased and proud to receive this honour for doing something I love – making books and stories as entertaining and accessible as possible.

“Reading is a hugely important part of my life and I am glad to have helped others to enjoy it too.”

Mr Follett has published 44 books, including the bestsellers ‘Pillars of the Earth’, ‘The Eye of the Needle’, and the Century trilogy.
