BUSINESSES in WGC are being invited to the launch of the Garden City's new town centre partnership.
Tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) at the Place To Eat cafe inside John Lewis in Bridge Road, the Welwyn Garden City Town Centre Partnership will be officially opened.
The partnership is aimed at promoting WGC as an attractive shopping location and visitor destination, through a series of collaborative projects.
John Lewis managing director and partnership chairman Andrew Slater said: “The partnership board has been in place for a couple of years, working hard in the background to enhance the town.
“Our key areas of focus are community safety, how the town looks and marketing. “Some initiatives we have championed to date include the recent shopfront guidance leaflet, as well as supporting the WGC Watch anti-shoplifting project, alongside the range of popular events that continue to draw crowds to the town.
“We are very pleased that the partnership itself is now at a point where it can begin to make a tangible difference for both businesses and users of the town alike. “We expect the partnership to shortly be registered as a not-for-profit Limited Company and we will seek to become a business improvement district in the coming years.
“I, and members of the board, look forward to welcoming anyone with an interest in learning more about who we are, what we have done and what we plan to do to raise the profile of WGC in the future.”
the partnership has promised a number of new projects taking place throughout the rest of the year and into 2013.
