JEWELLERY was snatched when burglars ransacked a village home.

They broke into the property in Orchard Road, Tewin, by forcing open a patio door at about 2pm on Monday.

A safe containing a number of items of high value jewellery was taken.

Police said that at this time there were no details of the offenders.

Detective constable Paula Dickerson, from the eastern area burglary and robbery unit, is investigating and said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police.

"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or any suspicious vehicles we would like to hear from you.

"Any piece of information, no matter how small could prove vital to finding those responsible.
