A 25-YEAR-OLD who broke into a WGC newsagents and stole nearly £2,000 worth of cigarettes has been jailed.

Michael Forbes, of Peartree Court in WGC, was given an 18 week sentence.

He entered Martins Newsagent in Moors Walk as a trespasser on September 28, and helped himself to cigarettes valued at £1,965.

Magistrates at West and Central Herts Magistrates Court, sitting in Hatfield, ruled the offence was serious enough to deserve a jail sentence.
