Welwyn Hatfield Council's Local Plan is today being examined by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State.
Sessions 1 and 2 of the Stage One examination are taking place today in the council chamber.
The council submitted its Local Plan for examination on May 15 this year and Melvyn Middleton has been appointed by the Secretary of State to carry out an independent examination of Local Plan (2013-2032).
His task will be to consider the soundness of the plan, based on the criteria in the National Planning Policy Framework.
Today’s examination will focus on the inspector’s questions, the plan’s legal soundness and the council’s duty to cooperate.
This morning’s hearing runs until 1pm, followed by a hearing this afternoon from 1pm to 2pm.
There may be a further hearing tomorrow from 10am to 1pm if required.
