Welwyn Hatfield’s one and only independent candidate vying for the spot as MP has brought a take-away with him to the count.
As he arrived at Campus West he asked Welwyn Hatfield Times editor Terry Mitchinson: “Have I been swept to victory?”
When he got the reply - “not yet” - he said “I’d better go and eat my curry then.”
Nigel had come prepared for what looks set to be a long night, with a Chicken Tikka Biryani and some poppadums.
