DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a betting shop was robbed in Welwyn Garden City.

The robbery saw around £1,000 taken from Jennings Racing in Moors Walk last Friday (April 5).

A thief, wearing a Royal Mail jacket, told a terrified cashier he was carrying a firearm shortly after 9am.

Today (Friday) officers have been patrolling the scene calling for witnesses, and CCTV images have been issued.

After the robbery, DS Rob Burns, investigating, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “He was wearing a postman’s jacket and had a postman’s bag, but his face was obscured.

“He demanded money, so the cashier handed over the day’s float.”

It is not known whether he was armed, as he claimed to be.

The man is described as being around 5ft 5ins tall, tanned and with black hair.
