A 70-year-old has told the Welwyn Hatfield Times she has been banned from a social club and lunch club after challenging its management on behalf of her fellow pensioners.

Joy Ashburn of Lumbards, Welwyn Garden City, whose concerns over Douglas Tilbe House in Hall Grove the WHT reported last year, has been banished from it since February.

A letter from the charity Age UK Hertfordshire, which provides meals there and organises outings, accused her of “intimidating” staff and clients, but did not provide details.

Mrs Ashburn told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “All I have done is do my best for other people. I want to know who I have intimidated and when.”
