IT would seem the credit crunch hasn't stopped the charitable people of Potters Bar from parting with their hard-earned pennies.
Shoppers at Tesco in Mutton Lane donated more than �2,700 to RSPCA Potters Bar, Hatfield and Borehamwood in just five days.
A total of 24 collectors stood outside the supermarket with collection buckets between Wednesday, April 29 and Sunday, May 3.
The grand total came to �2,721.35.

Fundraiser John White said: "We had contributions ranging from �20 notes to 2p, but I'm extremely pleased with the result considering we live in an age of plastic, and people don't carry as much change these days.
"It was very successful.
