A “HUGE explosion”, heard across WGC on Sunday night, was a firework.

Police received calls and asked for the fire service’s assistance after an explosion, which a resident told the WHT “sounded like a massive car crash” was reported to them at 9.35pm.

The Panshanger resident said: “It was a massive boom. In my street we all went out of our homes, expecting to see a car crash.

“It was mysterious; we even had a friend who heard it in Thistle Grove.”

A police spokeswoman said someone had simply set a firework off in Money Hole Lane Playing Fields.
