The latest and final winner of this year’s Howard Centre Community Heroes Award is grandmother Anne Keller.

Anne volunteers once a week helping children to learn to read at Our Lady Catholic Primary School in Welwyn Garden City.

She also helps children prepare for their first holy communion at Our Lady Church in Woodhall.

And she doesn’t stop there.

Anne is a long-serving member and past chairwoman of the Catholic Women’s League, which raises funds for local good causes.

She was nominated for the award by her youngest son Darren, who said: “She helps anyone, any time and never wants credit or fuss.

“My mum, as far back as I can remember and right up to now in her seventies, is looking after, helping and trying to improve the life of both the youngest and oldest elements of our community.”
