Horses caused chaos for rail users this morning (Monday) after they strayed onto the line near Potters Bar.

Trains on the Great Northern Line – which cuts through Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and Potters Bar into London – had to be closed for 10 minutes while the steeds were rounded up at around 7am.

A spokeswoman for rail operator Govia said: “Earlier this morning it was reported that a number of horses had strayed onto lines at Potters Bar.

“All lines were temporarily closed while the horses were rounded up, after which services resumed with minor delays of 10 minutes.”
