A HORSE awareness day will take place in North Mymms tomorrow (Saturday) .

Organised by Herts Constabulary Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) and the Royal Veterinary College the event is to make drivers aware of the dangers of driving to fast or close to horses.

Between 10am and noon, visitors to the event will have a chance to ride out on their horses with rural police officers and learn how to safely use the area’s roads alongside motorists.

It is also hoped that through this outing, motorists will become more aware of being more considerate to those riding horses by driving slowly around them and not getting too close.

Riders are asked to meet at the Hawkshead Lane campus at 10am, but due to lack of parking space police have request that only two riders from each stable attend, unless they can get there without driving.

ROST will also be marking leather saddles at the event, which makes it difficult for thieves to sell on stolen saddles and easier for police to return to it’s rightful owner.
