A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was held up at gunpoint by a hammer-wielding robber in Hatfield, police have said.

The horror encounter took place at Martin’s newsagent this morning (Thursday).

A letter was delivered to residents nearby which said the youngster was held up by the man described as being between 18 and 30, wearing sunglasses, black jogging bottoms, a long-sleeved, possibly grey, hoodie and light-coloured trainers.

He was carrying a silver pistol and a hammer.
