FOR the candidates of one of the smallest parties involved in the elections it is a case of hope rather than expectation.

The Green party has candidates standing in Howlands, Sherrards and Panshanger as they aim to break their way on to the borough council.

Howlands ward candidate Jill Weston said: "We are not expecting too much but we live in hope.

"When we have been out we have had a positive response but it is difficult to know what will happen.

"I think I have done so much door knocking that I will probably still be doing it in the coming days just through habit.

"Our main issues are tackling global warming and providing more affordable housing, and hopefully these are issues which gain us support.
