A historic landmark in Welwyn was reduced to rubble yesterday (Tuesday).
The large clock tower, which gave The Clock Hotel its name, was pulled down ahead of building work on the site.
The fire-stricken venue is set to be converted into 50 flats after planning permission was granted in August last year.
Arsonists struck in 2010, and the building has been derelict since.
The housing plans were passed by a majority of seven to five, despite Danesbury Residents’ Association collecting more than 350 signatures opposing the development.
